The Charisma Club 2004
Join the Charisma Club to help New Zealand's Equestrian team take on the world.

CharismaNew Zealanders and equestrian supporters worldwide have great memories of the fantastic kiwi horse, Charisma. Charisma, with his partner Mark Todd, won two individual Olympic gold medals as well as a host of other prestigious competitions in both New Zealand and England. Charisma epitomised the kiwi spirit; small, feisty, with tons of determination.

Preserving the memory of this mighty horse is important. No other horse has achieved so much nor won so many hearts with his unique personality. Following in Charisma's hoofprints is important to the New Zealand Equestrian Team at both the Olympics and at the next World Equestrian Games in Germany in 2006.

In 1990 Friends of the NZ Equestrian Team first launched the Charisma Club to ensure our riders could compete at the Stockholm World Championships. They didn't just compete - they won! Blyth Tait on Messiah won the individual title, and Andrew Nicholson, Andrew Scott, Blyth Tait and Mark Todd won the Team Gold. None of that could have happened without the Charisma Club members in 1990.

Now in 2004, the Charisma Club has been relaunched. This fundraising venture will help riders make the transition from national to international competitions. It will provide valuable support to those riders who want to succeed at the highest level - the level where Charisma proved himself time and time again.

Charisma died in 2003 but his memory will live on as our greatest horse ever through the endeavours of the Charisma Club. By joining the Charisma Club, equestrian supporters worldwide can show just how much they admire and respect Charisma and what he has done for New Zealand equestrian sports.

Now in 2004, we are again counting on your support. No matter how small, your donation will help. For a minimum of $25 you can become a member of the Charisma Club in 2004. Members will receive news updates of the NZ Equestrian Team as they prepare and compete at the Athens Olympics in August; a memorabilia book of the 2004 NZ Olympic Equestrian Team and a Membership Certificate. You will also go in the draw to win two fabulous prizes (some conditions apply). There is a weekend for two staying on wonderful Waiheke Island at Kowhai Close with ferry tickets provided by Fullers; and a weekend for two in the romantic Akaroa, which includes two nights accommodation at the Centurion, a Canterbury Cat Cruise, and dinner at Bully Hayes restaurant.
