Flaxbourne Station |
|||
Flaxbourne Station was founded in 1846 and was the first sheep station in the South Island and the first large scale in New Zealand. It is still home to descendants of it's original founder. The old homestead was destroyed by fire in 1993 and was replaced by one of Mediterranean and South African design. The fairly extensive gardens are set among mature trees and was designed by a Landscape Architect to rdflect the architectural influences of the new house. Admission is strictly by appointment only, as this is a working sheep and cattle property. |
