The OliveMark guarantees 100% New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

The OliveMark is the shop window of a rigorous certification programme for New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Oil.  Oils that meet the programme's strict standards are certified and awarded the OliveMark seal to display on their bottles.  The seal provides a guarantee that the oil is true to its label, ie is 100% New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

The certification standards are based on those set by the International Olive Council.  Each oil undergoes two tests :

• independent chemical analysis, and
• evaluation by a trained sensory panel that assesses the oils in blind tastings.

Oil that passes over those hurdles is deemed to be extra virgin and of certification quality.  Certified oils must also be packaged correctly and show a "Best Before" date.

An oil must measure up at every stage to be eligible to use the OliveMark.

To support the "OliveMark" some point of sale shelf signs have designed have been designed for growers to supply to their retail outlets.  The idea is that the grower download the signs and either print them themselves or send to a printer for printing and die cutting.

Olives New Zealand Certified Extra Virgin Olive Oils

The following oils from the 2009 season have been certified by Olives New Zealand as extra virgin.  These oils are eligible to display the Olives New Zealand "Olivemark".
