Original Landscape
Little is left of the ancient and towering forrests of Kauri and other natives. Any visit to Northlands west coast is incomplete without visiting Tane Matua (Giant Kauri Tree) in the Waipoua forrest.

Coastal cliffs show a record of ancient forrest fires and other events.
Pouto point, with it's vast tracts of sand, has probably remained unchanged for centuries.
