Hauraki - Macwynscar.I must confess I’ve never really looked upon myself as a miniature/patio rose breeder like Harm Saville or Ralph Moore. Using miniature pollen always seemed to me a way to make bigger roses more floriferous. But then, I get a rose like Kapiti, and Trumpeter x Kapiti seems an obvious cross if I want to breed a very free-flowering floribunda.
It doesn’t work quite right - I end up with a patio rose with the bright scarlet colour of Trumpeter. It just happens to be a good one, free flowering, bright, healthy and quick to repeat. Awarded a Certificate of Merit by the National Rose Society of New Zealand.and voted Auckland's Rose of the Year 1998.
